This Grand Final Football week comes with far more optimism for many people as the virus numbers seem to be decreasing and consequent restrictions being able to be eased somewhat.

We will hear Garth Symington’s personal experience of Rotary club Community activities.
 
Rosters for Club Duties will be on the club website when we return to face to face meetings.

Celebrate the Melbourne Cup
This is a FUNraiser not a fundraiser.

Boroondara Community Outreach
With Christmas approaching, our help is again sought by Boroondara Community Outreach for donations of toiletries, and non-perishable food items to make up Christmas “hampers” for at least 500 recipients.  With the shut-down, the need is greater this year.

Gardening - from Neil Marshall
Now that some restrictions have been lifted we can revive our gardening program with Members Only for the last few weeks of this year.
There are 7 properties over the next 7 Fridays ending Dec 4.  Time slot 9.30>11.30 AM, which could be altered to suit if necessary.
No schools can assist so it is members only Maximum 5 people.
Please contact me if you are available to assist with this project so we can finish the year on a positive note.
Corona Virus safety measures will be in place.
 
 
 
Rotary Foundation Breakfast Meeting
This year’s Paul Harris breakfast will again support the Rotary Foundation.  It will be a Zoom meeting on Tuesday 24/11, starting at 7.30 am for 7.40 am.
 
The speaker will be Ian Wishart, CEO of the Fred Hollows Foundation ; a great speaker as always.
 
Cost is $20- per person.
As it’s a Zoom meeting there won’t be ‘tables’ and you can book direct by clicking here.

The Club AGM will be held on 19 November.
 
 
Board positions will be voted on at that meeting - there are quite a few vacancies listed on the Nomination Form.

A new free online community newspaper has been started, due to the demise of the Leader newspapers.  This is focused on our area and it is free to register to receive it.  We are encouraged to submit articles.  Check it out at:  www.eastsidernews.org.au
 
 
Drought Relief Program
 
Here is an update on our Drought Relief work in St Arnaud and Numurkah.
 
 
 
District Governor Nominating Committee
On behalf of the District Governor nominations are called for from clubs who are members of Rotary International District 9800 to nominate a past president to serve on the nominating committee the committee shall seek out and propose the best qualified candidate for Governor-Nominee.
 
There are 3 positions available; if there are more than 3 nominees then a vote will take place.
 
The pre-requisites for nomination to the committee are;
  1. The nominee must be a past president;
  2. Only 1 nominee may come from any one club;
  3. No nominee shall be Honouree Members, or past District Governor;
  4. No past President may serve 2 consecutive terms on the committee; and
  5. Nominations must be received by the District Secretary by 22 November 2020.
A letter from the club President or Secretary stating that the candidate is qualified and nominated by the club shall be sufficient evidence of a club’s nomination.
 
 
End Polio
The Rotaboars Team is going fantastically well in the End Polio Walk. 
 
16 members with over $2,400 raised and more than 1,100 kms walked already.
