Thank you to Jane for filling in as Sergeant last Thursday.
Keep an eye out for a revised roster when we return to face to face meetings. Members listed for club duty on weeks Zoom meetings have been held will be re-rostered to fill any gaps that emerge, or moved to the 2021-2022 roster for the new Sergeant.
Jane here - it was good to see that people had not forgotten how to use Zoom!!
Our Meeting on 3 June
Our Guest Speaker was Jessie Harman, a member of the Wendouree Breakfast Rotary Club, and selected as Rotary International Director Zone 8, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Jessie fascinated us with a speech about her life story in five chapters. This included the experiences she has had with Rotary, the people she has met, the travel opportunities, the challenges and the future.
She responded to many questions with an acknowledgement that one of the major challenges for Rotary going forward is membership. She elaborated with details about Rotary's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policy and how vital it is for this to be implemented at all levels of the organisation.
A wonderful evening and we were very thankful for technology as Jessie could Zoom in from Ballarat and members Zooming in from as far away as Perth, Queensland, Canberra, Sorrento, Yea and Melbourne.

Foundation Grants Seminar
This year’s Grants Seminars will be held online with a choice of two optional dates. Each session will run for 90 minutes.
For our club to qualify for a Rotary Foundation Grant in the 2021-2022 Rotary year, at least one club member must have attended one of the two sessions.
Australian Honours
Know someone who constantly puts others ahead of themselves. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Sound familiar. Sound like a Rotarian you know. How about you nominate them for an Australian Honor!
To help you find out more we have organized Barbara Abley to do a presentation on Saturday the 19th of June at 12 noon on Zoom. Stay tuned for more information as to how to register.
Opening of Yarra Bank Playground on 8 August
It's official! The official opening, that is. The R100 Playground Committee has agreed with the City of Boroondara that the official celebrations for the opening of the Rotary 100 Playground at Yarra Bank Reserve will be on Sunday August 8th, 2021. The event will be a giant Family Fun Day, featuring children's entertainment, music, refreshment stalls, and we are coming to the party too, to provide the sausage sizzle for the day.
