Scam Emails - Beware A few members are experiencing emails under members names (which are unusual and suspicious). Quite often they purport to have photos of events with an appeal to click and look at the photos, or a document which they want you to click on. If you suspect that an email or text message you received is a phishing attempt: - Do not open it. ...
- Delete it immediately to prevent yourself from accidentally opening the message in the future.
- Do not download any attachments accompanying the message. ...
- Never click links that appear in the message
If you detect anything that appears slightly abnormal do not open any attachments or 'click' anything in the email. Check with the purported sender on the email address which you know is correct (you will often find the email address from the phishing attempt will be slightly different - maybe a few characters added). Do NOT open the suspect email to reply in any manner! These matters can be referred to the appropriate Australian Cyber Security Centre site on the following link |
