President's Comments

What a great Meeting to celebrate Are You Okay Day (“RUOK”).

With the Spring weather being warmer, having more daylight to enjoy and we see some faint light at the end of the lockdown tunnel, please continue to stay well, look after each other and remember to try and Open Opportunities.

President Greg

September is Education and Literacy month on the Rotary calendar. If you have been involved in an Education and Literacy Rotary program as a member of the Rotary Club of North Balwyn please email a brief outline of the program to me before next Thursday’s meeting, 17 September.

For example Phil Wade would email Reading in Schools – listening to Primary students oral reading at St Bridget’s Primary School.

A reminder that fines will be collected before the end of this Rotary year.

The site has relevant information for all of us to assist family and friends from young  people to adults. There is also a FIND HELP button if we sense the need  to talk to someone.

Fellowship Weekend
We have 21 members wanting to go. (31 incl' partners).

Currently it is doubtful we will be permitted to travel so we need to wait until last minute – end of Sept – to celebrate and action things or just cancel.

Back-up Plan
Should we be unable to visit Bright we are planning a Virtual event via Zoom. It will likely be on Friday 23rd or Sat 24th (avoiding Grand Final) There will be some surprises, some information sharing and of course some fellowship and fun. BYO food and drink :-)

More to follow once we know more.

All members welcome.

Contact Maurie for more information.

Eye Glasses

Have you been tidying up while in lockdown?  Have you found any glasses that are surplus to your requirements?

If so, they are wanted and useful to others.
Paula Monaco at Boroondara Eye Care and a Friend of our Club, is collected glasses to clean and repair ready for distribution in Vietnam.  She is located at 264 Doncaster Rd, North Balwyn.  So when we are able to get there please do so.

End Polio

This is your invitation to join the Rotaboars Team in the virtual End Polio Walk during October.  Join and be part of our Rotaract Team - we would love as many members as possible!  It is not arduous as you set your walking total yourself so you can walk as much or as little as you want.  And you do it by yourself - virtually - so no pressure!!

We would love you to join or donate to our Team.
