RIMERN Update
RIMERN Update...
 
Our Rotary Inner-Melbourne Emergency Relief Network (RIMERN) has just completed 9 months of operations and made just over 80 deliveries of furniture / kitchenware / manchester from the Brunswick warehouse to households linked with community agencies.
 
         9 of these deliveries were for our Afghan refugee project.

Please be advised that I need car regs. This will be entered into the car park system so your parking will not be charged (usually after 2 hrs). Whilst the shifts are 4 hrs, we have listed the “Time Required” with Bunnings as 5 hrs to allow for extra arrival and departure time.
 
We will be observing covid 19 procedures to ensure we have NO physical contact with the clients and please bring your hats, aprons and masks.

Antioxidants in Avocados and Green Leafy Vegetables Help Prevent Age-related Dementia

In an article published in Medscape on 5 May, it was reported that higher levels of specific carotenoid antioxidants may help guard against age-related dementia.
 
Investigators from the National Institute on Ageing (NIA) found that people with high serum levels of lutein and zeaxanthin found in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, broccoli, peas and avocados were less likely to have dementia decades later, than their peers with low levels of these antioxidants.
 
Other related antioxidants found in oranges, papaya, tangerines and persimmons were also beneficial.

  • Continue to offer support and encouragement even if the person is not ready to accept help at the time
