Being a bloke generally means you don’t discuss your feelings or deal too well with your physical, mental and spiritual health. This was identified as a serious issue during the 90s in Australia, and the Men’s Shed Movement emerged sprouting thousands of sheds across Australia and the world. Now Rotary Club of North Balwyn (RCNB) has taken its angle grinder to the workbench to build a men’s shed on North Balwyn Bowls Club land.
“We know that older men who’ve become disconnected from community life through factors such as retirement, illness, disability or unemployment, have poorer health outcomes than those who enjoy close community connections. We are excited to launch this project in conjunction with the City of Boroondara,” says Tony Hart, Chairman of RCNB Men’s Shed Project.
The shed opens September 2017 and RCNB welcomes donations and handymen who would like to be involved. Please Garth Symington on 0419 519 899 for more information.
